Spring is finally here in full force now and summer is just around the corner. It's April and all the lovely blue birds are singing andcas the flowers have bloomed the pollen is in the air and your nose is stopped up and you're sneezing like crazy and you're getting all teary eyed; it's time to come in from the outside and all that misery and enjoy the cool comforts of your home at your ultimate gaming machine, practicing Quake 3 for the upcoming QuakeCon2001 tournament this summer!
By now the GDC (Game Developer's Conference) is over with, which I assume went very well, but I was too busy at my own little conference to notice. So now everyone is gearing up for E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo, May 16-19th in Los Angeles, California). We want you to be ready for this onslaught of new games -- let the rest of those fools go outside and get sick with allergies.
Our goal here is to layout the best High-End gaming rig money can buy, which will give you plenty of excuses to stay inside and play games. Spring does have some unique benefits for gamers though. When you haul your case outside to cut a blowhole with a dremel you won't need a coat and you might even get a tan in the process! This is also a good time to plan out that A/C vent ported directly into your case to keep your overclocked beast cool this summer (hell, when isn't a good time to duct AC to your tower of power?).
Most importantly, its time for SPRING CLEANING out with the old and in with the new. This is what we are going to be starting right here with this High-End gaming rig for April. We are going to be introducing some new parts into the mix and changing a few things up to make this the best damn gaming rig for the money.

3...2...1...Fight!
Plain and simple, building the best gaming system requires money, and lots of it. Last time around the flower patch we were able to build a top of the line system (a P4 1.5GHz or Athlon 1.33GHz) for under $3500. Just a month later that same $3500 will still buy you the fastest machine around, so we took roughly the same budget and have given our buyer's guide a spring refresh. One thing we promise right off the bat, we won't be cutting any corners concerning you gamers.
