One thing gamers should beware of with any large 20" or above display, is the effect of most Voodoo/Voodoo2 pass-through VGA cables. At 1280x1024 the effect isn't noticeable, but at 1600x1200 the signal degrades quite shockingly. Text is slightly blurred versus when the P810 is connected directly to the system's 2D card, and the actual brightness of the display is somewhat compromised. One way around this is to purchase the new Canopus Spectra 2500 TNT AGP card (Sharky's favorite), as it allows users to plug their Voodoo2 cards into the Spectra's unique "3Dfx In" port, so that no signal loss occurs under any circumstance. The Spectra really is the goods in the Mako Shark's opinion, don't believe any reviews that whine and cry about it's low-end CPU performance, heh heh.

In conclusion, the ViewSonic P810 easily won the respect of SharkyExtreme's staff, and we recommend it even to aspiring artists and engineers. At a price that's slightly above $1,000 on the street, the P810 delivers more performance and quality than most users will ever need, and eliminates the foolishness of spending hundreds more for a higher-line 21" monitor.

SharkyExtreme would like to thank online game-rig builder GamePC for providing us with the P810 we reviewed. If you'd like to purchase this monitor or something else, feel free to take a look at GamePC's spiffy website, it's worth your while.
