Taiwanese mother and video board manufacturer Gainward is another one of those "lesser known" board manufacturers from across the big pond that don't have their ads plastered all over popular US gaming / hardware magazines but nevertheless offer some high quality / high value products. Today we're taking a closer look at their TNT 2 dubbed the CardEXPERT TNT 2.

The board comes with 32Mb of onboard SDRAM and S-video out as well as a connector for LCD's on the back plate. LCD monitors are supported in various flavors and the Gainward TNT 2 is capable of putting out a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 in true color. The TV-out which, as mentioned, is of the S-video type offers a maximum resolution of 800 x 600 and has all the usual features such as PAL/NTSC support and flicker filtering etc.

The clock of the TNT 2 chip is the standard 125MHz and the memory is clocked at 143MHz, which is actually a little low even for a non Ultra TNT 2, the question is though will performance suffer when you settle for some 7Mhz slower memory, well, read on to find out…
