Since its initial announcement, the Permedia 3 chipset has spawned much discussion, on everything from bump mapping to multiple texture stages to virtual texturing. The Permedia 3 also offers many of the standard 2D and 3D features gamers know and love, and the Oxygen card is capable of handling some pretty impressive resolutions as well.

Check out the black and white on the Oxygen VX1:

  • Maximum 2D resolution: 2048x1536x32bpp@60Hz
  • Virtual Texture memory management unit
  • Texture Unit with single pass, multi-texture capability
  • Integrated 300MHz RAMDAC
  • OpenGL 1.1 ICD
  • Multiprocessor system optimized
  • 2048x2048x32 maximum individual texture size
