All Unreal tests were done with vsync disabled and volumetric lighting turned on. Tests were run three times and then averaged. Texture quality was set to high and sound was at the lowest quality settings and turned all the way down.
There are several things of note:
Unreal can only run in Glide up to a resolution of 960x720. The Voodoo3 card and drivers are capable of running at much higher resolutions in 3D. It appears Unreal does not support these higher resolutions with Glide so we benchmarked at 800 x 600.
The visual quality of the Rage 128 in Unreal is pitiful compared to that of the Voodoo3 2000. The ATI card has serious artifacting throughout the Unreal flyby sequence. Even when comparing 32bit color on the ATI versus 16bit on the 3dfx, the 3dfx looks better by a long shot with smoother looking textures, much better fog, and higher frame rates. The 3dfx Voodoo3 2000 PCI is far superior to the ATI Rage 128 in Unreal.
