There's nothing that we don't like about the printed specs on the Fireball Plus KA, but there are a few additional features the drive offers that won't be found on any spec sheet.
One of the more exotic of the unlisted features is the inclusion on the KA of Quantum's new DPS technology. DPS stands for Data Protection System, and it helps determine the functionality of the hard drive in PCs that have experienced a system failure.
Quite handy in finding out exactly how hard your data has been hit by a destructive virus, as well as in a multitude of other situations where the hard disk may have been compromised.
Another feature we've grown to like on many recent Quantum hard drives is their resistance to physical damage due to hard impacts.
Quantum's SPS (Shock Protection System) allows for more survivability potential if the drive is dropped, or suffers a large impact.
Just the thing for a hardware test lab where slippery fingers combined with gravity have led to the demise of many products over the past year…
Quantum has packed the KA with every newly developed technology they've produced for speed, reliability, and survivability. There's nothing Earth shattering within the KA's enhanced featureset, but often times pure evolutionary changes can lead to a true revolution in everyday usability.
