For instance, you won't find the standard 440BX board's five PCI slots or four DIMM slots on most 440ZX boards, including the ZA3. Instead its practicality, baby, just enough to get your apps to where they need to go at a financially responsible price.

We've documented the differences in hardware concerning the 440BX and 440ZX before, here's a short list to jog your memory:

  • 440ZX supports up to 256MB of SDRAM (440BX supports up to 1GB)
  • 440ZX eliminates support for ECC SDRAM (440BX supports ECC SDRAM)
  • 440ZX supports a maximum of 4 PCI slots with bus mastering. (440BX supports up to five)
