With the introduction of the Intel i810 mainboard chipset last month we knew it wouldn't take long for new boards based on the so called "Camino Lite" to make it to our office doorstep.

The first 810 we received came from Gigabyte, a company whose products our staff respects greatly for their quality and performance.

Called the GA-6WMM7, this Gigabyte board is exactly what we speculated that most i810-based boards would be once they were announced. Namely that instead of the usual 440BX mainboard design which features support for large amounts of SDRAM and PCI peripherals, the 810 boards would be geared for the system integrator or OEM customer who would then build low cost systems around the foundational 810 mainboard.

The GA-6WMM7 is indeed a system integrator's delight, whether or not it should be considered for a power user's machine is open for debate.
