It's nice to see that UDMA/66 does provide a 10 to 15% performance boost under benchmarks versus when the same hard drive is used with just UDMA/33 support, provided of course that the hard drive is capable of utilizing UDMA/66.

We also found that the MX3W tends to produce system level performance scores that are nearly identical to the 440BX mainboards we've tested over the past year. Consistency is always a good sign.

With no AGP port and just three PCI slots, the MX3W and most i810 mainboards like it will never see an add-on video accelerator within the PCs they propel.

This is a shame because for even the average gamer, the i810 video chipset comes up drastically lacking in 3D performance when compared to even year-old stand-alone video accelerators.

Test System:
Intel Celeron 500 CPU PPGA
AOpen MX3W i810 Mainboard
128MB PC100 SDRAM
Western Digital 18.1GB IUDMA/66 HD
Diamond MX300 PCI Audio Card

Test Conditions and Specifications:
All tests were run a total of four times. The highest and lowest scores recorded were then eliminated with the remaining two results then averaged to determine the final score. VSync was disabled for all tests, allowing maximum frame rate performance.

Quake3Test was set to "Default" for Game Options, and to "Normal" for Graphics Options. Sound Quality of all benchmarks was set to "low", and 3D Audio support was disabled.
