To inaugurate the testing of Intel's first 600MHz CPU we've completely revamped our testing suite to better reflect the technology present in current CPUs from not only Intel but AMD as well.

Specifically we've added benchmarks that are capable of supporting Intel's SSE and AMD's 3DNow! optimized instruction sets, as well as updated our batch of entertainment titles that we use to gauge CPU performance.

We're still not through tweaking the list of benchmarks we utilize (we never are) and we'll be adding newer tests as they are released and pass our qualifications.

Here's the specifications for the test machine we utilized for all testing with the P3-600:

Test System:
MicroStar MS-6163 V2.0 Mainboard (Slot-1 - Intel 440BX)
EMS/Goldstar 128MB PC-133 SDRAM
Hercules Dynamite TNT2 Ultra 32MB AGP 2D/3D Accelerator (175/200)
Abit Hot Rod UDMA 66 Controller Card
Western Digital AC418000D 18.1GB UDMA 66 HD
Diamond Monster Sound MX300 3D PCI Sound Card
Kenwood 52x TrueX EIDE CD-ROM
Win98SE

Test Conditions and Specifications:
All tests were run a total of four times with the results averaged to determine final score. Vsynch was disabled in order to achieve maximum frame rate results.
