To any regular gamer, the tilt feature is going to seem like nothing but a gimmick. Admittedly, I was a little skeptical myself of how well the feature would work, but after some testing I was actually pretty surprised at how well it works. The Tilt action has a “dead zone” like regular joysticks, so you have to tilt it a certain distance before the movement registers. Getting used to this dead zone can take a little effort but once you do get used to it, it's useful for keeping your vehicle (or whatever you're controlling) moving straight ahead when necessary. Moving the pad physically to control things also has the unexpected side effect of immersing you a little further into whatever you're playing. While it isn't the same as a wheel or force feedback, the Destroyer Tilt is a heck of a lot cheaper than a wheel or joystick while still involving you in the game with each tilt of the pad.

The Destroyer Tilt isn't without fault though. Initially at least, the Tilt function isn't as precise as an analogue joystick. While accuracy might improve as you get more experienced, after a few days with the pad I still found it difficult to make it through the checkpoints in Motocross Madness and as a result didn't win once (and yes, I have won while using other controllers before). On the other hand I got my highest single score yet in Stunt mode, although that mode admittedly requires less accuracy. The two buttons at the top can also be awkward to reach. Holding it in the most comfortable way meant that the top two buttons were unreachable unless I changed my grip, which then meant I couldn't reach two of the four coloured buttons on the pad. Talk about a Catch 22 situation!

The final problem I noticed was with the tilt function. While most of the time it worked well, once the tilt function stopped working at all for a few seconds, sending me careening into a wall in Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer. This was a one-off occurrence though during many hours of testing, so either I was hallucinating, doing something wrong or it was just a one-off unexplained glitch.
