The biggest fight of the year is set to come down to 12 rounds of Boxing in Las Vegas come mid-November as Canadian-born (now fighting for Britain) Lennox Lewis takes on Evander Hollyfield in the last 'great fight' of the Millenium. But at almost the exact same time (November 15), there should be another 'fight' going down in the city of neon lights. The venue will be Comdex 99 and the contestants will include the likes of NVIDIA, 3dfx, S3, Matrox and PowerVR in the 3D chip 'free for all'. With current favorites NVIDIA (you only need look at their current high stock price if you disagree) on the right tack with their new GeForce 256. Looks like NVIDIA put on their marketing hat- a job well done. Some might say that they didn't change the world with their GPU announcement, but they certainly did cause many a web site (including their own and ours too) to crash due to the massive interest in their announcement.

In all reality it doesn't matter much what we think. The decision to buy will always be yours, nobody can take that away. So what did you think? Before NVIDIA's announcement, we figured we'd take this question to you, our readers. And who's next generation technology interested you the most? Well of the 25, 000 total votes a staggering 61% of you voted for NVIDIA's NV10 (as it was back then), with 3dfx's Napalm coming in second with 21% and Matrox coming in third with roughly 10%. The S3 Savage 2000/2000+ and PowerVR Series were neck and neck at around 3% a piece (despite the recent announcement from S3). We understand 25,000 is but a small sample but it does indicate that, sight unseen, NVIDIA is attracting the most interest, at least from our survey.
