Thanks to raw capitalism and the implementation of technology that makes capitalism possible, the PC entertainment world stands today on the brink of a new frontier. Semiconductor manufacturer S3 has developed what will likely be remembered in the future as the "Voodoo Graphics accelerator of the laptop world" in the form of their upcoming Savage Mobile chip family.

Recently Sharky Extreme sat down with S3 for a demonstration of a Pentium 2-400 equipped laptop running Quake2, Incoming, Unreal Tournament, and Quake3: Arena using the Savage Mobile video accelerator.

The results were very impressive, it was one of those moments where we realized instantly that our expectations from what a laptop computer needs to be had changed forever.

Clearly the way we define "desktop replacement" in the next two years will scarcely resemble the definition for the word today, and companies like S3 and ATi are helping to make that transition a reality.
