Benchmarks
Our test rig that for the Revolution IV beta board looked as follows:
  • Intel P2-400 CPU
  • Abit BX6 440BX Mainboard
  • Corsair 128MB 10ns PC-100 SDRAM
  • Adaptec 2490UW Ultra-Wide SCSI Controller
  • IBM Ultrastar 9 8.4GB UWSCSI HD
  • Diamond Monster Sound 3D PCI Sound Card
  • Plextor SCSI 32X CD-ROM
  • Win95 OSR 2.1
Test Conditions and Specifications: All tests were run a total of three times with the results averaged to determine final score. VSYNCH was OFF for all tests, allowing maximum frame rate performance. As per SharkyExtreme's Hardware Center standard testing policy, Quake2 and any other OpenGL benchmarks were omitted from the test due to lack of an acceptable driver on the part of the manufacturer.

As a reminder, the omission of Quake 2 benchmarks is again per SharkyExtreme's Hardware Center Policy, in that we will test no OpenGL driver "before its time". Number 9 is readying a full OpenGL ICD for Win95/98, expect it to be ready within two to four weeks after the Revolution IV goes on sale in October, it wasn't available for this review.
