The second major announcement was a showing of Bungie's new game, Halo. A third person epic where you play a member of a planetary expedition force, Halo Has you organizing a resistance movement to fight for humanity's place in the galaxy with enemy aliens all around. In addition to their plans for intricate team play and an engrossing single-player mode, Halo will sport some awesome graphics. A demo sequence was played at the keynote address of the conference, and the crowd cheered. We later saw more of the game behind closed doors where we just sat and smiled wide and dumbly. Yes, we are eagerly awaiting Halo's release. You can check out our first glimpse of Halo here.

The third major announcement came from a company called Mactell. Mactell currently makes CPU upgrades, video cards, and FireWire hard drives for the Mac. At Macworld, they announced their EvilEye series of graphics cards for the Mac. The low-end model is based on the Voodoo3 2000, and the high-end model is based on the Voodoo3 3500. Both cards are PCI since the Mac does not have AGP. You can see our Voodoo3 for the Mac Preview right here.

There were a lot of other 'cool stuff' announcements. Connectix announced Virtual PC 3.0, a faster, more complete version of their PC emulator for the Mac. New features include USB support and IP address sharing between the Mac and the Virtual PC it is running. They were also showing off their PlayStation emulator, Virtual Game Station.

Apple was showing their new video editing software, Final Cut Pro. Final Cut Pro is video editing software for the masses. It has enough features for all but professional video editors. With a copy of Final Cut Pro and a FireWire video camera, you can turn a stock Blue and White Power Mac G3 system into a pretty good video editing station.
