The creators of Expendable obviously had some fun making the game. They put in some clever touches in addition to 'Mercy Killing". The cut scenes often have a humorous edge, especially the introduction. At one point in the game, there is a secret area with an ice cream truck playing a happy little tune. But a bloodthirsty testosterone filled killing machine like you doesn't need ice cream! Dynamite takes care of that!
All this said, there are some problems with the game. The levels are too linear. We wish we could explore more instead of having to go where the programmers want us to go. The default weapon, the pulse cannon, is so weak
as to be almost useless. There isn't a lot of depth of play. You get what you see, which looks sweet, but little more. After you beat the game, you'll be coming back for an aggression release, not for discovering the finer points of cannon fodder.
Expendable is hideously excessive video game violence at its best. An excellent game overall, Expendable will fit nicely into any game library. Superb detailed graphics with powerfully intense game play make it a winner. OK sound and lack of depth are its weaknesses. If you're looking for a shooter, this is the best yet.
