The aforementioned distinct areas are the Eden colony, the Moogaly Swamps and the WE Cemetery, and they all look wonderful. Ritual have a bit of a reputation for level design excellence and FAKK 2 is a fine example of why this is. The different levels in each area are simply gorgeous, with subtle use of curved surfaces and lighting and excellent use of the vibrant textures on the beautiful architecture. While there are no difficulty levels to pick from, difficulty is mostly pitched just right throughout with the possible exception of the final boss, as the way to defeat him is a little obscure. Towards the end a number of the despised jumping puzzles also put in an appearance, although these are much easier to make in third person than first person and the lightning-fast quick load feature for saved games makes retrying failed jumps relatively painless for once.
The icing on the proverbial graphics cake is Julie. While the enemies are definitely creative and well done, they pale in comparison to the main character herself. She has so many different moves like swinging across monkey bars, crawling, edging along narrow ledges and of course a number of sword attacks. She can also pull off combo moves. While they're tricky to pull off and can leave you briefly vulnerable if you fail to do so, these impressive looking and lengthy flourishes do much more damage to enemies and are a nice touch to make combat a little more interesting. The Julie character skins are detailed and numerous as she changes outfits a number of times during the game (no, you don't see her do this) with each outfit predictably being successively skimpier. To cap things off, her weapons look fantastic, from the huge muzzle flash of her uzis and chain gun to the gorgeous effects on the various swords such as flames or electricity. Call me a polygon pervert, but from her weapons to her slick movements, Julie looks just as great as the levels do.
While it doesn't quite reach the same standards as the visuals, the sound in FAKK 2 is nonetheless pretty good. The voice acting for the numerous and invariably well done cut scenes is good, the weapon sounds are loud and powerful like they should be and the music, though forgettable, complements the action well.
