The Bow of the Ancients acts as a double-action long-range weapon and can be found fairly early on in the game. It can be used in conjunction with Storm Arrows and/or Phoenix Arrows (see below).
If you intend to pick off enemies from a great distance, then the Storm Bow is probably the weapon of choice. It requires Storm Arrows, which aren't all that easy to come by so use them sparingly. Not only does this 'bow and arrow set' come complete with Storm Arrows but it also induces a fiery red acid rain storm above the point of impact, which several drains the intended targets' energy finishing them off. A nice touch… Be warned though, if you happen to shoot one off in Corvus' own vicinity, you do so at the risk of losing his health.

Because Heretic II is set in a fantasy realm, rocket launchers would look slightly out of place. Thus, Raven has implemented the Phoenix Bow to temper every Rocket Arena veteran's needs. The Phoenix Bow fires off fiery arrows that ignite upon being notched in the bow and explode upon impact. What does that sound like to you then? An ancient rocket launcher perhaps? Indeed, and we won't even touch upon Phoenix from the Flames either… Obviously extreme caution is the order of the day when attempting to get to grips with this, the most powerful of all weapons in Heretic II. In other words, think of it as a Rocket Launcher as mentioned earlier. Now, you wouldn't let off a rocket in a small room or near a wall in Quake 2 would you? So don't go shooting it off in tights spots in Heretic II either! Use it at a safe distance from the intended target and watch the resultant gibs (dismembered arms and legs) fly. All good things come at a price though and in the Phoenix Bow's case the price you pay is for the scarcity of the necessary Phoenix Arrows (Corvus can carry a maximum of only 20 Phoenix Arrows).
