"Beware, I live!" To any classic gamer, this is a familiar proclamation that sparks fond memories. Sinistar, an arcade game released in 1983, has a large following that has grown over time. You fly a ship around in space destroying asteroids and collecting crystals in preparation for when the dreaded Sinistar comes to beat you down. Gaining crystals gets you Sinibombs (not Cinnabuns) which you then use to nail the arrogant Sinistar. All the while, evil warrior ships try to shoot you down. The original is fast paced, difficult, and a lot of fun.

And now, only sixteen years later, there's a sequel. Does that remind you of any recent movie release? Published by THQ and designed by GameFX, Sinistar Unleashed is a high-g, interstellar, fight for survival soon to be unleashed upon the gaming community. Sinistar Unleashed takes the concept of the original Sinistar, adds a full six degrees of freedom, and paints it all with cutting edge 3D graphics technology.

Like the original, game play is fast and furious. GameFX adds multiple forms of weaponry, force shields, and health boosters to spice up the play. There are also more forms of enemies to take on, twenty-five to be exact. With twenty-nine levels to tool around in, you won't run out of play possibilities for a while.

The graphics engine is beautiful. Since there is no environment to draw other than a distant background, GameFX didn't spare the polygons. Ships are detailed and have a cool organic look to them, and dynamic lighting casts everything in, ahem, a new light. The sound engine will use EAX and A3D for you to get your aural bearings. And there will be support for up to 8 players over a LAN.
