It was a shame when Psygnosis closed its U.S. doors, as the developer/publisher had released many great titles. One title in particular that was sorely missed was Metal Fatigue, an anime inspired real-time strategy title developed by Zono Entertainment. Fortunately for gamers, the title that pits three brothers against each other in Combot suits to recover alien technology will see the light of day and will now be published by TalonSoft.
What sets Metal Fatigue apart from all of the other real-time strategy titles with armored tanks on alien worlds is that Combots take on such a strong role in the order of battle. Also, the field of combat is spread out to three different levels including under ground, planet surface and in high orbit. The game's new units are like what you see in those sci-fi B-movies that play on Saturday afternoons on Cinemax where pilots control giant robots and battle for sport or strategic victory. On the different battlefields, the giant units have a huge advantage; they overpower any tanks, turrets or buildings that stand in their way. The only worthy opponent is of course another Combot - of which there are plenty.
