And loose dirt we have in abundance. The clouds you spew up as you grind your way to the top of the next embankment only serve to show just how stunning the revamped 3D engine used in the game is. You can race in canyons, deserts, grasslands, sand dunes, or one of many motocross tracks. Actual Motocross racetracks are included. You can race the stunt quarry, on three different surfaces. The Baja courses make for a fun reappearance and they've added some new modes, detailed below.
Stunt Quarry: Challenges you to perform the gnarliest stunts possible in the shortest period of time.
Baja: Hate the track? Wanna leave it? This race challenges you to find the best path you want to each checkpoint and finally the finish.
National Events: Supercross with the big boys. Licensed stadiums included.
Pro Circuit Event: Injuries and damage count against you but winning races gains you cash in this string of National Supercross events.
Multiplayer-only Top 100: the built-in ladder system.
Enduro Race: The Enduro is exactly the same as the freewheeling Baja race except for the addition of objects. One track takes place near a trailer park; another lets you play with oncoming traffic and a third lets you visit the local airport.
Multiplayer was a winner last time and this time should be no exception. It'll support the gamut of options, from LAN to Modem. And TCP/IP will be supported. You will also be able to play for free at Microsoft's own matchmaking service, the Microsoft Gaming Zone. In fact, Rainbow has implemented its own ladder into the game. Each racer on the server is assigned a number between 1 and 100 based on how well they've performed in past races. This shows your ladder ranking to whomever you play against.
