SE: What are the technical specs and features of the Bugdom 3D engine?

BG: Well, no real tech specs per se. It uses QuickDraw3D and RAVE for most of the 3D stuff, and then there's my skeleton animation engine and terrain engine used for the actual game data.

SE: Why are you self-publishing Bugdom?

BG: Because I didn't see any point in having a middleman taking most of the money. I wanted to take a risk and see what would happen. You only live once.

SE: How well is Bugdom selling?

BG: I had expected more sales the first 3 days from the people waiting for it, but aside from that, its selling well. It varies a lot, but we seem to be doing a consistent 80 or so units a day to end users and retail combined.

That's a pretty good number, but I'm sure it will increase even more after MacWorld and when some reviews start to appear. Plus, the summer is always a bad season for game sales. We still expect to do 30,000 units by next summer.

SE: Why did you decide to make Bugdom a Mac only game?

BG: Because the PC sucks. PC people don't deserve Bugdom. They should be forced to buy a Mac in order to play it. It's the principle of it ya know.

SE: Right now you have no plans for a PC version of Bugdom, but if there were enough interest, would you consider it?

BG: I would never ever do a PC port. However, once Bugdom is old news on the Mac and if someone else wanted to port it, then I might consider it.

SE: Kind of a poetic justice, eh?

BG: Yeah. I like to give them some of their own medicine.
