In the not too distant future, somewhere far away, in a galaxy not unlike ours (actually it is ours but it sounds snazzier this way no?), the planet of Mars is being colonized by Earthlings (that's us the good guys). As inquisitive as humans of the future are, they (we) uncover a 'horrific' alien artifact, which resembles some kind of weapon of destruction. Unfortunately for us (on Earth), at certain times of the Martian year the particular weapon in question happens to be pointing itself at Earth (how inconvenient). An ensuing arms race occurs on Earth between two leading weapons manufacturers, who both compete to develop premium robotic devices that seem best to defend the planet. The United Nations then sanctions a 'test' battle on Mars between the two manufacturers technologies. The winner then gets to take on the Aliens and save the Earth. We're certainly not Hollywood scriptwriters here at Sharky Extreme, but we have to admit that RoboRumble's story should make for a perfect excuse for some carnage and violent mayhem. And we've all had disturbed childhood's so we're that way inclined.

Playing the actual game will require a player(s) choosing sides and undertaking either set of 15 missions (each side has a different set of 15 missions). The next stage will then be to customize robots by choosing from various chassis, weapons and boosters. There will be plenty of permutations and combinations to mess around with, for example, mounting a mine spreading robot with a jet-pack, whilst issuing it a laser and/or nuclear weapon to play with. Although there should be up to eight varying categories per manufacturer, the actual use for robots will be virtually unlimited. During the gameplay you'll also be able to upgrade and buy extra parts for robots. In addition a substantial amount of weapons will be available, including chainguns, rocket launchers, homing missiles, mine spreaders, magnetons, oilers, forcefields, nukes, lasers, pulse guns, erasers, buzzers, nitrogen, disturbers, whirlwinds and infectors. If that doesn't quite fill your own personal quota, then some 14 different weapons power-ups and speed boosters and 14 different chassis just might?
