"Thou shall not descend into mediocrity".
-- The 11th Commandment

"Section 1. The manufacture, sale, or transportation of deficient, monotonous or otherwise lax games within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory subject to the jurisdiction thereof for entertainment purposes is hereby prohibited.

Section 2. The Congress and the several States shall have concurrent power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation".
-- The 28th Ammendment

"The Security Council shall determine the existence of any threat to excellence in gaming, breach of excellence in gaming, or act of aggression against excellence in gaming and shall make recommendations, or decide what measures shall be taken, to maintain excellence in gaming".
--U.N. Charter, Article 112

What a world it would be if these laws actually existed. Just imagine, every game would bring with it innovation. Every developer would be striving to not only push the genre, but invent entirely new ones at that. Stores would only be filled with the likes of Half-Life, Command & Conquer, M.U.L.E., Zelda, Civilization, MGS, Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo and other classics.

Instead, we're held witness to aisle after aisle of degenerate games - clones, uninspired creations and otherwise just a whole lot of wasted time tucked inside pretty boxes and backed by million dollar marketing campaigns.

While the thought of such a world is a concept so ridiculous that it makes us want to laugh out loud, we still shed a tear every time we come across a game like Acclaim's Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. The game is an unfortunate collaboration of poor graphics, mediocre AI and deficient play control. Considering how pleased we were with the first title, Turok 2 did nothing but disappoint. Instead of evolving, we'd go as far as to say that Turok 2 takes a step backwards from Iguana's original hit.
