Sharkbait Game
Warzone should appeal not only to those seeking new enemies to conquer but also those that can't live without excessive alpha effects and colored lighting surrounding them on the battle field. Making full use of 3D accelerators via either 3Dfx's GLIDE or Direct3D for non-3Dfx hardware the graphics remain fluid even with dozens of units on screen. Burning ruins, smoke, rocket trails, a detailed 3D landscape with buildings, water and fogging, huge explosions and units caught on fire moving around trying to evade their inescapable demise are just some of the delightful things brought to life with the 3D engine. The units themselves however fail to impress graphically, the textures are a tad colorless and the models very simplistic. But what do you expect? You can't have dozens of 1000+ polygon objects on screen at once. Relying on a 3D engine the animations in Warzone are of course super smooth. Watching units move along the landscape smoothly at some 60 fps spitting flames at the enemy in retreat is a beautiful sight. Of course being in full 3D you can twist and turn the playfield as you like, you can even zoom in and out to get a better look at things; you don't want to miss those explosions!
