Mike Wilson, CEO of GOD, which is short for Gathering of Developers (also known as Take Two Interactive) reportedly claims that he never expected this kind of mayhem when he conceived of this way to promote his only promising game: KISS: Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child. "I've been really angry at the press lately, they totally savaged our Nocturne release, but I hadn't planned on killing so many of them in such a cheesy 70's way," Wilson explained morosely. Then the CEO allowed himself a wicked smile. "But then again, who's going to give our KISS game a bad review now?"
John Romero reportedly took on all Daikatana Challengers at the Mplayer booth. This open tournament took place in the Concourse Hall at E3, booth #5100 on May 11 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Players received one of the following prizes: a Daikatana T-shirt, game art posters or an autographed copy of Daikatana. I couldn't find anyone who went so I have no idea who won. But I did uncover the following bit of news about the event:
Apparently the prize list disappointed players. Many of the gamer "athletes" noted that the last person to beat Romero in a tournament, one Stevie "Killcreek" Case, received much better prizes. She won a job as a professional level designer, got to be Mr. Romero's girlfriend and media tool, and received too bouncy new breast implants for her troubles.
In the grand tradition of those wonderful Acclaim South Park games, Fox Interactive plans on desecrating the beloved Simpsons family with a.... wrestling game? Yep, they even reportedly had people dressed as the big yellow characters at their E3 booth this past week. The basic premise sounds about as funny as an episode from this current dismal season. Pick a Simpson's character and maul your way to the top of the leaderboard (while listening to scads of repetitive sound bites) to crown yourself "Champion of Springfield." One can only cringe at the thought of how a Smithers vs. Burns bout would play....
