Gold
Nothing. Absolutely nothing went Gold this week. Are you surprised?
Released
Quake III: Team Arena: Just like Unreal Tournament, only not as good.
I'm Going In: I'm Feeling Sick; I'm Not Enjoying It; I'm Also Reviewing it
When Red Storm released the awful (and I mean it's pretty bad) Freedom: First Resistance just a couple weeks ago, I made fun of them. I pointed out that they took a lame Anne McAffrey series and made a game about it while there is a much better, and much more popular, Anne McAffrey series just sitting around looking baleful. Because of my none-too-gentle prodding Red Storm, a.k.a Tom Clancy's Lark, is working on (drumroll) Dragonriders: Chronicles of Pern for the PC. See how truly powerful I am? Yes, because of me and my mad mocking skills you'll have Weyrs and Weyrlings, Dragons and Thread on your PC sometime in the next few years.
In an unprecedented move this week, a gigantic game company's Quality Assurance department accepted code for release that had no bugs in it at all. None. No crash bugs, no interface problems, no Direct 3D or sound driver issues, nothing at all. The marketing department didn't know quite what to do, especially since the FAQ and Tech Support sections for the game were already laid out in HTML and ready to go.
"We honestly don't know what to do about it," said Linda Denison, a PR rep close to the project. "I mean it's Christmas and people don't expect their games to work at this time of the year.” She went on to remark that: “There's talk of throwing in some sort of bug, just because fans have grown to expect it. Maybe we'll mess up the uninstaller or something..."
Until Next Week? Not a creature will be stirring, not even my mouse.
