Publisher Empire Interactive acquired Rowan Software last week and completely gutted the company. Despite Rowan's track record of producing excellent sims like Flying Corps, MiG Alley and the upcoming Battle of Britain, Empire announced that Rowan will now work on console games. Probably the worst news is that Rowan was acquired for a mere 30,000 pounds (presumably they mean British currency there).
Add this horrible news to the older news that Empire acquired Razorworks (Commanche vs Hokum) and did pretty much the same thing to that company and it really sucks to be a flight sim fan right about now.
Gold
Quake III: Team Arena: O.k., you can stop playing UT now.
Stupid Invaders: Potty humor, poopy jokes and toilet titillation.
Released
Mechwarrior IV: Read my review!
Giants: Interplay released a patch that makes the blood red again (yay) but failed to release a patch to re-remove the bra from the Sea Reaper queen (boo)!
Starfleet Command II: Empires at War: The best naval tactical sim, all encased in a lovely Starfleet wrapper.
I'm Going In: I'm going to review it!
B-17 Flying Fortress 2: The Mighty Eighth: It's raining bombs; hallelujah it's raining bombs!
The Grinch: I wouldn't touch this one with a 39 and a half foot pole.
Until next Monday then? It's a date. And remember, Alice doesn't live here anymore.
