In the wake of President Nukem's disappearance and President Clinton's reappearance this past week, America finally defeated the Soviet attack and retook the Pentagon building and Texas. Thanks go out to Kari Wuher for her spectacular effort; that girl deserves an Oscar for her portrayal of Tanya, don't you think? Some pundits complained that the Soviet occupation was reversed in a mere 10-12 missions and that feels cheap.

Some also say we should have just let the Soviets keep Florida, that way we wouldn't be back to square one with the “Election Crisis.” I say forget it. Let the partisans ride this one out, it just isn't funny anymore. Still others say it wasn't funny to begin with… and to that I say, “See below.”

I am thankful for my lovely wife and beautiful daughter. For my wife, Linda Denison, for doing more than her fair share of the housework and such just so I can work as hard as I do on my writing career. Everything I write is for myself, the industry and, especially the audience, but all rewards are for her and my lovely daughter Maggie. I'm thankful for Maggie because she makes me work even harder at being a grumpy game reviewer. It's hard to be sarcastic when a seven-month-old smiles at you all the time.

I am thankful for Sharky and his crew. This column started out at Daily Radar and was canceled. Primarily because I have another column at Daily Radar (Andrew's Views) and they, sensibly, didn't want two of them each week. Sharky picked this one up and I didn't miss a week of the madness. I am particularly thankful for Moira Archdeacon, the person responsible for editing my garbage each week. She suffers quietly and with great dignity.

I am thankful for PR reps and game developers who have a sense of humor.

I am thankful for fan mail and hate mail both equally. Both are constructive and both are often hilarious. The email link is at the front and rear of this column.

I am thankful for my weekly readers. You come, you click, and I can share my dubious sense of humor and style. If it weren't for you I'd be ranting this stuff on a street corner to people who would be far less interested.

I am thankful for the Election Crisis. Because it gave me the most hilarious night of television of my life (Nov. 7th) and has remained entertaining until very recently, always nice to see the system tested in your lifetime but come on now. We all know the recount is going to show Nader won. Anyway, I'm now just plain sick of both sides and I think I'd rather sit through another impeachment scandal than watch the Florida Supreme Court right now.

I am thankful for football. Not just in the real world (go Packers) but in Madden 2001 (go Packers). EA's game isn't the best video game football this year (NFL2K1 and the PS2 Madden are better) but it is the only PC football game this year, and for that I am grateful. Speaking of which….
