September 4th, the season opener, the Denver Broncos versus the championship St. Louis Rams, Monday Night Football. Oh yes. As a special service, Beatdown will bring you the score before it happens with the help of the best…er… the only PC football game for this year, Madden 2001. I portrayed the mighty Rams.
Tune into this game tonight folks, it's going to be unbelievable. In the first quarter, benefiting from a stupid fumble the Rams will score a touchdown. In the second quarter the Broncos have Warner against his own endzone at 4th down. But they rough the kicker during the punt, giving the ball back to St. Louis. In the 3rd quarter the Rams kick a field goal. The 4th quarter begins with Denver scoring a TD on a 6 play drive.
It is the final two minutes and it gets more than a little interesting. The Broncos intercept and run 60 yards for the score. It stands at 14-10 now. With one minute left, in three plays the Rams then score a TD bringing it to 17-14. Denver scores in five plays on its next possession (no joke) bringing it to 21-17 with 28 seconds left. Warner, on a single 35 yard pass, nails Bruce and he runs… all… the… way. Final score 23-21. This really happened, folks. Madden 2001 is proving to be a very interesting, if a little suspicious football sim. Anyway, St. Louis will win tonight on Monday Night Football. See if I'm wrong!
Until next week then? It's a date. I'll bring the whine.
