Sigh. It took almost two years for the game-reading public to realize that they can find pictures of boobs almost anywhere.... Yes folks, it's a sad day for the "not-quite-old-enough-for-Playboy" set as Imagine Media closes the doors on PC Accelerator Magazine. But what's sad about it isn't that you won't get to read the mag anymore, what's sad is that I'm going to lose another paycheck! I just started reviewing for those bozos when.... ahem. My heartfelt condolences go out to Salmon and the entire PCXL gang.
Well now. I've received so far three times the mail I used to get at the previous home of Beatdown. Keep it coming, I love hate mail. But you didn't send any hate mail. The following was the only piece of Hate mail. Its from a gentleman named Ben V.
"I'm sorry, but this is a gigantic rip-off of Gamecenter.com's already established Gamespin column. I like you guys, and it is quite funny, but you've been beaten."
Beaten? Beaten!? Eagle-eyed readers may notice that I work for Gamecenter as a reporter, reviewer and as a journalist but this guy is actually somewhat correct. Beatdown was in fact inspired by GameSpin. But only because I knew I could do it much better! Beaten? No sir! My column is actually funny! Just kidding, Mark Asher (Gamespin's author) is a respected colleague of mine. I've been drunk with him many a time and it's safe to say that I, in fact, love him.... (though not in a that way, more like a prison way). Besides, this here Internet is big enough for the both of us. So read both!
Last week I challenged readers to come up with a humorous take on the news that Nick Baynes had left a company called Probe for one called Climax. Here is the "winner" he gets the joy and rapture of seeing his name in print... well, his name and last initial. Congrats Tim R., I especially like the fact that you used the style of Variety magazine.
Probe too "anal" for Nick Baynes, Climax hits the spot
