Diablo 2 got one immediately, Icewind Dale has a beta patch available that helps with multiplayer, Vampire still doesn't have one and it still desperately needs one, Combat Mission has a tiny one that tweaks some of the graphics, but the big news here is that Croteam's phenomenally cool Compatibility Test Serious Sam now has a patch that makes it work nice for 3DFX owners. Do you Voodoo? Grab the patch, grab the test, and revel in the madness of one of the best games of the year.

Speaking of the shut-out-of-AVP2 Oxford England-based game developer Rebellion Studios…. Rebellion announced recently that they've purchased the classic sci-fi comic series 2000AD from Egmont International. 2000AD is where comic book legends Alan Moore (Swamp Thing, Top Ten, From Hell) and Neil Gaiman (Sandman) got their auspicious starts.

Rebellion's CEO Jason Kingsley explains the purchase: "I am only too happy to confess that I have been an avid 2000AD reader since Prog 1. However, that doesn't mean that this deal was done for sentimental reasons. 2000AD is not only a gold mine of intellectual properties, it is also a hugely enjoyable read. We are looking forward to helping this top quality publication to achieve its fullest potential."

This gives Rebellion the exclusive right to make games based on properties like Judge Dredd, which despite the movie is actually a cool property. Above all this proves that whenever God closes a door (Aliens vs. Predator 2) sometimes you have to open your own damn window.

Games like Daikatana come along rarely. Truth is, most bad games are too bad to be worth making fun of. Do you want to read a bunch of jokes about how bad Deer Revenger, Panty Raider and Wizardworks latest Swamp Buggy racing game are? I didn't think so. A bad game is much more fun to rip on when arrogance, hubris and stupidity are also factors. This is why Trespasser: Jurassic Park, Battlecruiser 3000AD and John Romero's Daikatana are so good for my state of mind.

That said, let me convey to you my unbridled delight when I heard that obviously mentally ill director Roger Christian announced his plans for an animated series, possible film sequel and, best of all, video game based on recent crapfest Battlefield Earth (also known as Travolta's Waterworld). May I suggest a gem based save system and offensive racial stereotype sidekicks? How about some cyberfrogs then?

Speaking of Daikatana, it has fallen completely off the Top 20 PCData charts in a mere three weeks.
