They Break the News, I Break it Again!
Bub's heart rings true for the red, white and blue as he prepares to blow his face off with homemade fireworks, again (be careful at home there, kiddies). But really he, like most of America, is seeing red. Blood-red, yeah, Diablo 2-style red. Yes folks the infamous "gory desktop" has returned. Yet time marches on and things keep happening, we got science and technology and we got the death of yet another PC rag. Come on in, light a sparkler, and stay awhile. Oooh, ahhhh.
Game Quote of the Week: Computer: "Mine Crawler in Sector 8675309."
Dr. Hawkins: "My God, that's Edmonton!"

German conglomerate Computech Media has announced that it's canceling its US blitzkrieg and pulling away from the American front. This means industry newbies Incite.com, Incite Video Games and Incite PC Games are all being canceled and people who want to learn about what games obscure rock bands are playing will have to get that information elsewhere. This also marks the end of the stupid "For Men" game magazine trend that began with the iconoclastic PCAccelerator and ended with Incite's so-lame-it-was-funny-editorial: "You're a player, and I don't just mean games" from the first issue.
I must say the German-backed Computech Media surrendered to American competition fairly quick (10 months give or take). I mean, it was so quick you'd think they were a French company. All levity aside, it is always sad to see an outlet for game writing, a potential freelance job for a guy like me, go down the tubes. Good luck to all involved.
