The new Doom is here and it ain't id that brought it to us, heck it weren't even Johnny Carmack that done it! And, it ain't finished neither. In fact, after the sweat dries and your heart stops racing you might even catch their disclaimer: "This isn't a Demo version." What do you say about a freaking Compatibility Test that's better than most full release games? You say: "Go Croteam!" Serious Sam is some seriously great gaming. Can't wait to see it finished.
Serious Sam compatibility test is available for download at various websites and Croteam's site.
Eidos president and former choose your own adventure style gamebook author, Ian Livingstone announced that Eidos earnings, once again, would be down. In his statement he blamed a sluggish market and a crop of game fans sitting on their money waiting for the PS2, Dolphin and XBox console systems. "Things are tough. Blame it on the next generation of games," he said.... somewhat cryptically.
Livingstone went on predicting continuing losses (read: Daikatana) next quarter and then improvement due to a strong Eidos PS2 lineup, PC sequels to Commandos, Gangsters and of course, Tomb Raider, and new titles like Hitman, I'm Going In, and Deus Ex.
There's a lot to love about Vampire: The Masquerade: Redemption: Insert Subtitle Here: Thanks. Stunning artwork, nice interface, great voice acting, brilliant backstory. But sadly there is also a lot to dislike as well. For one thing, the lead character sounds like the megalo-maniacal mouse, Brain, from Pinky & the Brain. For another, the cut-scenes go on way too long and, come on, you call those story branches? The game is also, sadly, quite shallow. Worst of all is the stupid save system. A patch is going to address the save system; various network issues and single player pausing. Those additions might make the game a must buy. Next they'll tell us the patch renders our saved games useless.... just you watch...
