In Codename Eagle you controlled Red who, in the course of the game, had to save Russia from corrupt leadership, control various vehicles and of course take out enemy soldier after enemy soldier with the usual assortment of guns and rocket launchers. However as anyone who played the game found out, it managed to disappoint even if you were looking forward to the game based on these less than promising concepts. The missions were often too dark, presumably to try and hide the poor textures, architecture and enemies. Controlling the drivable vehicles was next to impossible and the enemy AI was so bad that your average Neanderthal could have outsmarted it – enemies would only attach once you approached their cone of vision and would then charge at you relentlessly rather than, say, trying to avoid the spray of bullets from your gun. Codename Eagle didn't promise much and it didn't even deliver on these unambitious promises. Colour me unimpressed.
- Sort of interesting story. Sort of.
- Ugly
- Awkward vehicle controls
- Enemy AI that is as thick as two planks
