Timothy Gerritsen: RuneGame.com is going to be our official spot for all cool things Rune. We are coming out with a roleplaying game in conjunction with Atlas Games, which is a pen and paper roleplaying game. We are going to co-host that on the site so that people can get materials there for the PC game and Macintosh game so that you can get all your tech support and downloads there. But in addition, we are releasing all the tools, so we will host people's [work], the best material. People will submit their levels or mutators or whatever, we will put that on RuneGame and will also be releasing some of our own additional material. We are going to release initial death match maps and possibly some new skins and characters for multiplayer. What I would really like to see is a couple of new modes, which we are probably going to add. We were only really able to get death match round and team death match and all the mutators with that. But the thing is we decided we wanted to make sure the core gameplay is good because if you build 50 versions and the core game is awful, you've really wasted your time. By concentrating on death match, we are saying “OK let's make it clean, fun, enjoyable and balanced and then we will go out there and do the rest of the stuff after the game ships”.

Sharky Games: Can people expect to see a Rune 2?

Timothy Gerritsen: We haven't really announced what is going on. We are going to be making some announcements in the next month or 2 about our future plans. Rune is definitely something we are franchising and we are talking to different people about big things coming down the road. The idea of this character Ragnar and how he evolves is kind of cool. People are really getting into the Viking thing again. Time and Newsweek each ran six or seven cover stories last year, just about Vikings exploring. So there's this cultural sort of awareness about Vikings again that hopefully we will be able to tap into.

Our thanks to Timothy S. Gerritsen for taking part in the interview.
