I've put this title down numerous times in the monthly Games Guide and it even made its way into the Ten Worst Games of 2000 article. Surely it's had its fair share of criticism and doesn't deserve more? No. I'm not quite done putting down this terrible title until I've completely got it out of my system.

Of course, the title is more infamous for its terrible heavy metal remix of the superb Star Wars soundtrack by John Williams. The remix was both terrible as heavy metal and terrible as a remix of the Star Wars soundtrack (which should simply be left alone). The music wasn't all heavy metal guitars layered on top of the strings of the original soundtrack, but the rest of the soundtrack was just as bad so it hardly matters. While I wouldn't go near it again if my life depended on it, the game still distinguishes itself from the terrible New Worlds as it at least tried some new ideas. Of course, most of these new ideas failed but, as I said, at least some effort was made to include some new ideas. Just like in New Worlds, units could take forever to get from one place to another and with no game speed slider like you might find in a Blizzard of Westwood game, you have no choice but to sit through it or to trundle off and get some coffee from the kitchen (or even from that café a few streets away). It almost seems as if the developers also completely skipped balancing the game, and as a result multiplayer battles were usually a one sided affair at best. This foray into a new genre for Lucas Arts failed almost completely, leaving Star Wars: Racer as the only semi-decent title they've released in a long while.
