SharkyExtreme: What are the rules of the game?
John Mancine: Depending on the kind of game you are playing, the rules may be different. For a standard game, the two teams battle it out trying to have the highest score by the end of the game. Although this sounds simple at first, things get more complicated as you will have to defend yourself from attacks and dish out as much pain to the other team as you can get away with. We are planning on having several game styles, but we have to play test each one before we decide which will make the cut into the final game.
SharkyExtreme: What sorts of moves and attacks are there?
John Mancine: Throughout the game, a player will be able to upgrade to gain special moves. Of course, you start with the basic attacks like punch, kick etc. but it will get much more interesting as you boost your skills and can use "special" attacks (we’re talking Jackie Chan style ass-kicking here). Using these moves, a player with enough skill could really inflict pain in some very cool ways.
SharkyExtreme: Blitz Disc is both a single and multiplayer game. Can you explain the difference between how the single and multiplayer game will work?
John Mancine: In single player, you have to fight your way to the top of the league to reach the status of First Blitzers. As you progress through the season you will be gaining experience and upgrading your team. This lets you develop new special attacks, better armor, etc, which will ensure that the gameplay stays new and fresh throughout the season.
In multiplayer Blitz, you can play single matches in any of the various game modes. Other players could join the same team, or play a team with Bots. Team play will be a big focus though, as we expect this to be really fun to play multiplayer.
We are also planning a global ranking system for stats, along with a global team ladder in which you could challenge another team on this ladder and try to fight your way to become the best player in the world. Or, of course, the player that sucks the most in the entire world...
Of course, in both modes there are some elements that we are planning on that we'll keep to ourselves for now, just to keep people guessing. =]
