  • Uh, we're drawing a blank here actually

  • Plain and repetitive graphics and levels
  • Fiddly controls
  • Kamikaze enemies that seem absurdly eager to die at your hands

Before its release Requiem looked…interesting. It was to use its own engine that seemed pretty nice, and the premise of an Angel bent on annihilating the forces of evil with guns and all manner of holy powers such as Boil Blood and Turn to Salt seemed pretty cool at first. And then we got our hands on the game and gave it a burn. We now regret this.

Gameplay in Requiem was so repetitive that it became mind numbing after more than half an hour. The much vaunted Holy Powers were a complete b**ch to use (excuse our French) - by the time you'd fiddled around and picked the right power you'd have a few fist sized holes in your chest thanks to the local shotgun-wielding citizen of hell. Architecture was hardly remarkable and the level design was so utterly bland and samey that only someone desperate for yet another first person shooter fix could conceivably bear to finish the game. Throw in enemies with a total lack of concern for their personal safety that verged on the suicidal due to horribly weak AI and you have a game we'd recommend to no one.
