If it were possible for someone to loose eyesight because of computer usage, It would've happened to me already for sure! It's an old wives tale, nothing more.

I am not talking about going blind, i am talking about losing sight, like having to use magnifying glasses, like my friend, he had normal sight before and now hes having trouble reading the blackboard. He plays computer and console games everyday

Yes, sitting in front of the computer does let your eyes get lazy. They don't have to focus on anything distant, and this is what exercises the eyes.

Eh....all I have to say about that is LASERS! hehehe, I rely on medical science to bail me out on that one. There's no way in hell I'm reducing my computer hours, it's the highlight of my day!

Think twice before using Laser eye surgery, because studies have shown it kills your night sight. -S

My night vision got better after laser surgery. It can cause halos if your eye is cut in the wrong place when they make the flap. However, that is more of a screening issue. If you go to the right Dr. your chances of that go down drastically. Less than 1 out of 100.

I plan on getting laser eye surgery when I'm 30 or so (9 years from now), so I imagine the procedure will have been perfected by then. At least I hope! I've heard aloooot of people now-a-days that are very pleased with laser eye surgery.

I KNOW my eyesight has gotten worse ever since I've spent countless hours sitting 1 feet away from a 21+" colortv playing with an ATARI 800XL. Thank god for those nice 19" diamondtron screens!

I was always under the impression that as long as your refresh was higher than 75MHz you would not have a problem. IF you are playing on a console however you would not get that kind of refresh rate out of your TV.
