The originalness of the Duke Nukem series will keep it alive. The graphics will probably be somewhat outdated, but that doesn't affect gameplay (which will be stunning).

They were originally going to use the quake 2 engine right? But then they scrapped it and are using which engine now? I forget...

Alot of people forget that it's been 5 years. That's f-i-v-e years. We are all sick of waiting and hearing their "when it's done" routine. They are not big enough to have that kind of attitude.I say we build our own Duke Nukem game, it will use the Extreme engine, and we'll call it... hmmm... Grampa Nukem, It took Forever! Sorry just a bit steamed.. :|

FIVE YEARS? hmmm I think there was a post about this awhile back and it has been something like 2 years. It started out for the Quake 2 engine. Then they converted it over to the Unreal engine and had to consitently keep updating it as the Unreal engine grew. Yes, it takes time and it may seem long, but just be patient. it will be out eventually.

The unreal engine just don't cut it anymore. The game is old and dated now. It was old and dated 6 months ago. It will be a dinosaur by (and IF) the time we get to see it. Unreal 2 is now being developed using the so called UNREAL2 engine, which I guess is just the current version of the unreal engine as epic have developed it. I'm sick and tired of waiting. I've almost forgotten the whole Duke nukem thing. There are better games on the shelf now. DN4 will have to be a very clever piece of software to part me from the $100 odd I anticipate having to pay for it!

that's okay. They can change over to the Unreal 2 engine. and extend the timeline by a few more years.thankfully, unlike games like Daikatana, we've had little real info about it. Just some screenshots used over and over and over. When I see that old man in the Wild West town in the actual game...I'm gonna shoot im immediately. definitely blowing up that tentacle policeman.

yeah, Adisharr...based on inflation, and the time it's taken to release DN4...I would say US$100 would be a good bet.that is, unless IRON_PAWW doesn't live in US and he's talking about $100 in another currency.

So far...DNF has taken 4 years. They started with Q2...then switched to UT... They will not switch engines again. The graphics will still be stunned...as seen from the pics they released several months ago. And from the video they had of DNF when it was using the Q2 engine, if they could do THAT with Q2 and make it look THAT good...MAN...I can't wait to see what they can do with UT... droool

The game is not using the engine from the game Unreal. It is using the Unreal Engine. Two completely seperate things. The Unreal Engine has matured and really kicks ass and holds it's own now. If you have no idea what I am talking about, go look at the Unreal Technology demo over at file planet.

No, it's 5 years, here: http://www.3drealms.com/index.shtml look at the middle/bottom, you'll see "Duke turns 5" Scott Miller when interviewed said that his team had to work on Shadow Warrior for a year before they could even think about doing Duke4. I guess, there's nothing to do but get older.. Eventually they may come out with something, but with no E3 demo slated and only "special content" to be shown, it doesn't sound real good at this point IMHO.

Yeah... but you have to remember that the first incarnation of ol Duke was a craptacular side scroller not Duke 3D... XD Yeah... still they are pretty damned slow... My sister (who maintains the retailers site for Gathering of Developers) Is rather tired of questions about when it will be out since they have no control over it. G.O.D. is supposed to be a hassle free publisher.

No, see you have to READ the article, which clearly states Duke Nukem 3D... Yes, that's 5 years.. I just saw why tho, it looks as if the game will be 1 Gig and take up 2 CD's. (forums administrator on 3D Realms) http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/Forum10/HTML/005651.html

I read some posts stating it will look outdated. That's funny. You should head over to 3DR and check out the screenies. The engine is just great: HW T&L, sceletal animation, dynamic LOD rendering, etc. I think it's going to kick some serious butt. Just check the forums. from time to time George B. will drop a line or two about the features that will be in the game and those that will not.I think it's a good decision not to put out a release date. We've seen a couple of companies delay their 10 times announced products. Remember Half Life? That really sucked ass! Let's just wait. I guess it will be worth the wait.
