Undying is the stuff!
By John Whew February 22, 2001, 01:16 AM

I just bought Clive Barkers Undying today, and I must say this game is awsome. It is a great mix of half life and resident evil. EB has it for $29.99, so I urge everyone who likes FPS and survival horror games to go out and buy this sucker. ANyone else get it yet? What are your thoughts?

Yeah, I got it yesterday. It really is a great looking game, very creepy, meticulously detailed. I've only played maybe 40 minutes of it so far, but it really is awesome.

What kind of system are you running? I play it D3D on an Ath750/128mb/Radeon 32mb DDR, and most of the interior scenes run fine, while the larger scenes get quite chuggy at 8x6x32.

I am running an Athlon 750, 256MBram, Geforce 2 GTS. It runs smooth at 1024x768x16 Bit color. I have come to a hard puzzel however, so I am stuck at the moment.

Hey guys,

I got 2 things:

1. When i try to run Undying in 32-bit mode, i get terrible stuttering in sound and video. I got a 1gig Ath, 256megs, SB live and GF2. 16bit is smooth as butter. Any help?

2. The part the you are in the church, those ghost priest's. There arent enough traps to get em all..any hint?

thanks

If you're talking about the chapel, I just ecto'ed as many as I could get and ran like hell out of there.

I find myself doing that alot in this game.

I just started playing this game this morning, so far I'm like... totally enjoying it! I haven't played much.. just long enough for those 2 priest/ghosts to slaughter me, but this game at first glance really is great!

Question for you all... have heard that there are constant load screens at the wrong time.. you start to do something and boom load screen and it screws it up.. is this indeed true or bogus? Thanks for you imput.

It does have quite a bit of loading, but so far the loading hasn't happened at a crucial part of the game.

So, basically, bogus.

Undying has to get some kind of award! This game has to be one of the BEST FPS games I have played, ever! Very creepy, excellent music, and JAW DROPPING levels. I have played over 10 hours this last weekend, and I just can't believe the amount of detail I have seen so far. I too find myself running alot, especially in the graveyard when I had 15+ Skeletons chasing me.

One of the coolest things I have seen is when you use the Time Encantation scroll(And other items you find) at the Monistary. TOTALLY FREAKING AWESOME!! I could not believe my eyes when I saw what it does. I don't wanna spoil it for anyone, so I will keep it to myself for now.

Lets just say, that those monks you saw and ran from(The ghosts), they are some bad assses later on.

I can't wait to get home from work and crank out some more playing time. So far, I LOVE this game. I vote best FPS of 2001, and possibly EVER!

I'm inclined to agree Softball. I'll reserve final judgment until I'm further along in the game, but I do think it is excellent...and not getting much attention, being in the shadow of geForce3, Doom3 and other news.

For me, there's nothing like a great SP game, and this is definitely a great SP game.

Sharky Extreme or Internet.com employees. Typically full time reviewers/writers, but they are the top powers of the forums.

FYI, the megalodon was the gigantic prehistoric ancestor of the modern shark.

I was tempted to buy this while I was at Circuit City today. They had it for $39, and I had it in my hand. But I thought, well, I'll just wait to see a demo.

DANG! Should've gone with the instincts and bought it. I'm stopping by the bank tomorrow. If the cash is what I THINK it should be in there, I'll get a copy tomorrow!

How are your furbies?

By Softball February 27, 2001, 03:05 AM

Just finished the Lizabeth Story, FINALLY! I was starting to pull my hair out on the MONISTERY PAST mission. Once if figured it out, it was smooth sailing. Took me about an hour to figure it out though.

Now I am on the Ambrose Story. I can't believe how lengthy and detailed this game is. Also, I finally got the Scythe, one kick arse weapon. Combine that with HASTE spell and look out! If you are thinking about getting Undying, think no more. GO GET IT! It is SO worth the money.
