To everyone out there what is your best game on the PC

The best game ever would have to be Unreal Tournament

There are other good games, but no game is as good as UT in my opinion.

For the single game i say Deus ex,and for MP Unreal tourney

For online MP: 1. Tribes 2. CS Since I havent played many single player games, I am going to say Half-life. I have played some Red Alert 2 and Diablo 2 and they are also top games in my book.

You guys always forget the older games. Mechwarrior 2 is the best game ever.

I think either MechWarrior 4 or Baldur's Gate II were probably my favorites... if you have to count games that really first appeared this year. Otherwise it would be quake3arena... I love that game.

I still have the most fun playing Quake3. It is just habit to play it being I've been playing it since Quake1's release.

What do you consider an old game? I started playing PC games around the time Quake 1 came out. So I know I missed a whole period of games, but I still stand by my word and say Tribes.

Well, my personal fav is Counter-Strike.

Giants: Citizen Kabuto.

Bouncing Babies is a close 2nd, though.

I don't think it's possible to have a best PC game. There have been so many great games over the last decade that choosing which was the greatest is impossible. Especially since you can't really compare older games with newer ones. Of course right now Unreal Tournament is better than DOOM 2, but which one did you play the most of? I probably played more DOOM 2 than I have any other FPS, does that mean DOOM 2 is the best? No. It just means you can't compare them.

Oh, blue fusion got it too.. Day of the Tentacle. Nothing's surpassed it yet. Why the hell am I replying to my own post.

Single player - thief2 and system shock 2
Multiplayer - Counterstrike, but tribes2 will take that spot soon

Anyone remember Elite II, now that was a game.
Sydicate was superb aswell

Deus Ex (best game ever), Counter-Strike and Team Arena.

My long time favorite Counterstrike, but lately the new Half Life Mod, Day of Defeat, has become my favorite. And we cant forget the all time favorite and IMO most addictive game Sim City whatever version you have.

No doubt in my mind: Unreal Tournament.

If you're gonna say best game ever, well gee, there are games like Ultima 5, Mule, Archon, and Day of the Tentacle that are just plain masterpieces!

Fallout 2 was a great game. Then again Escape From Monkey Island 4 was great too.

I agree. For 17 years of video game playing(ever since Apple 2+ Wizardry, Bard's tale) combining all the console games, I have never played one game over 2 years. Here is only one and possibly the last game I play more than a year:

S T A R C R A F T. & Broodwar expansion CD.

other good games oom, Quake, ultima Series, FF series may be the second place. but none of them kept me playing for more than 2 full years. I think StarCraft is a crack. I still play damn it..!

Half life nad Age of Empires. UT is very cool though. Unreal is awesome too.Thief is probably the most immersive.

I have Balder's Gate II on my hard drive right now but I'm not sure that it will have a permanent residence there. Only Half-Life, Quake III, Rogue Spear, and Thief have earned that honor.

my best ever game has got to civilization 2.

1st person shooter: half-life (CS) obviously
strategy: civ 2
closely followed by championship manager 00/01 (UK game to all u yanks)
real time strategy: tiberium sun (havent played red alert 2)
system shock 2 is also amazing

If you like TS so much as to call IT your fave RTS, then you are going to crap your pants when you play RA2. TS is absolute CRAP compared to RA2. I suggest you buy it. NOW.

Hmmm, it has to be Deus Ex, i love games where you get really involved in the plots and actually care about what happens.
Although having said that, the game i became most obsessed with recently has to be the Sims, must be something to do with playing God... Really looking forward to Simsville..

I'm with you.. Archon was an excellent game as were most iof the EA games at the time. My current fav is TFC (obviously)

I was also a big fan of Ultima III - it was a blast..
