Should I really download CS 1.0 ?
By Blizzard January 18, 2001, 06:02 AM

Hi.
Many of you people say that Counter Strike is a great game, so I was wondering, should I download version 1.0 ? I have tested CS before, but not actually played that version. So, what's so great about Counter Strike, what's bad about Counter Strike (if anything is) ?

Also, it's a very big download, CS about 80MB and the patch I need about 50 MB, so, that would be 130 MB! But if I use 2 both ISDN channels I might use 3-4 hours to download it I think! Tell me your opinions please. Would be much appreciated!

Largest number of playsers online. Plenty of servers. Once you get the hang of it, its very addicting. Just download it and try it out.

You can say that again! I am *cough* was, an avid Tribes fan until I found CS. Played HL when it came out, it was okay. TF and OF was not too impressive, so I went back to Tribes.
CS is now the leader in on-line team based games. It is very realistic and extremely addicting.
Take the 3 to 4 hours to download it, you will not regret it.
Reply back after you have to let us know what you think of it.

YES!

Yes, there is a lot of gameplay involved. It may not have the flash like Q3 or UT but its just fun. That is what is important to me is how fun it is.

I want to try the game, but doubt if I (or my 56k modem) will handle the time it will take to download it.

Now, if I just could get a better connection...

Actually, you can buy CS 1.0. I am sure you can get it rather cheap, plus you get some other mods. It is an easy way to get it for us 56kers.

Unless I'm mistaken on the expression "downloading it", buying it is also a legal way of getting it.

CS is free, but in the latest re-release of Half Life, Valve has chosen to include it in the box. There is nothing illegal about downloading it, Valve just decided to make everyone's lives easier.

Yep. for $10 makes life easy for us 56kers plus you get a few other MODs on the disk also. I believe TFC, Firearms, etc...

Yes, I knew before that I can get CS by buying it, but I wont buy it, just because the fact that I can actually get it for free buy downloading it.

Yeah, I downloaded it. But if you have a modem, a 100meg download may take awhile.

Grab a copy of getright or GoZilla and start d/ling when everyone is asleep. If it's not done by morning then pause the d/l and continue on the night after.

What are you waiting on, GET IT ALREADY!!

By NEwBoY January 18, 2001, 09:15 PM

here is a good way to download large files, get GoZilla and schedule a download early in the morning at about six, so at 530 just press the on button on your computer

also set the settings on GoZilla so that the computer auto disconnects and shutsdown on its own, so when you come back from work or whatever the download will be done when you get back!! (gozilla is a wonderful little program, reconnects broken connections in full automation, YEAH!!)

*on second thought*
going to best buy and buying the retail will save you ALOT of trouble, especially since you dont need anymore fancy patches

I advise you NOT to d/l cs unless you wanna kiss ur social life goodbye for the god-given gift of fragging. If you start playing this game, you will gain 50 pounds, lose all your friends and will need a hand crafted urinal next to your computer so you wont miss a potetial frag.

ps-i forgot to mention that your penis shrivels and shrivels in size due to the non-contact with women, which will leave you with a vagina
