Giants - the game to get? Feedback on it please....
By Eradicator December 18, 2000, 01:01 PM

I am planning on getting one game this season. Currrently I mostly play HL mods, SoF and UT but Giants: Citizen Kabuto has gotten my attention.

Those of you that have played it what do you think? Does it keep you interested? Is there any game out there you could relate it to?

Thanks

Yes, Please. Someone respond to this post who has played this game. I would also like to know if it is "the" game.

Please post your review because I want to know this game is like. It has recieved high scores, but I haven't found any reviews that really talk about gameplay. Is it like HL? Or more like Q3/UT? Any comments please.

Thanks

The game is pretty good. The graphic are simply amazing. The gameplay is fun, innovative and damn funny (Get the game and you will see what I mean)At times however it can be frustrating because there's no save option between mission and the mission are difficult at times.

I would give it anywhere in betweem 75% to 85%. I wouldn't think twice about recommend the game to another individual

I own this game and have beaten it. Although it is a very good game, it went down in calibre as the game progressed. The first campaign, in which you play with the Meccs, is incredibly sweet. Their gameplay is much like a game of Tribes; you fly around in jetpacks, snipe, and blow sh*t up. Their British accents are laughable and the smarties they run around saving are even more entertaining. However, this game is NOTHING like UT/Q3 or HL. Essentially, it's a console-type game. It's very straight foward. The missions are very specific and the story is linear. The ESRB gave it a MATURE rating, but it still has the feel of a console game. There is a bit of RTS thrown in, along with some racing (the most frustrating part of the game). Playing as Delphi wasn't enjoyable to me (mostly because I'm not into magic spells and all that garbage), but Kabuto's campaign is a hoot. Who doesn't enjoy running around as a 100 foot Godzilla/King Kong hybrid? I'd give the game a good rating, only because I was tired of playing Q3 and UT. It's a very long game (I beat it in 4 days because I have no life) and it requires a REALLY good gaming system. If you don't have a GeForce(2), don't be surprised if you can't get above 20 FPS (I averaged about 15-18 with my Duron 700@800, Voodoo 5 5500, and 128MB PC133 RAM). The graphics are a nice change from the space dungeons and sewers that have become cliche in PC gaming. The game supplies a surreal environment and the musical score is superb. There really isn't a game that I could compare it to...

If you have patience and a sweet computer, GO FOR IT!
