It seems that marketing is the name of the game this Christmas season. With a lack of new and awesome game titles, the marketers are pushing lame or older titles on us.Anyone see any cool games at all this Christmas?

Alice would win the game of the year if it was just about mapping skills which are years ahead of what i've seen so far, but lets not talk about pathing or AI here, at nightmare its still easy if you know where to find spots that enemies will just get stuck in, and its not hard to find them.

Well, there's Alice, MechWarrior 4, Quake 3 Team Arena, Kingdom Under Fire, Star Trek DS9: The Fallen, and a few others. Currently, I own MW4 and it's great.

So sad there will be nothing in my stocking this year.

Yeah, Deus Ex rocks, but it's not what I would consider a holiday release game since it came out in the spring

DS9:The Fallen is an awesome game. The best usage of the UT engine ever. Plus the story is really good. It doesn't even matter if you like Star Trek DS9 or not. It's just a very very good game. I like the option of taking three different characters with different missions. That's new to me. And Alice is definetly worth a look, although it's not a Game of the year competitor.

How come nobody has mentioned Rune yet? While it may not be as groundbreaking and flat out amazing as HL was when it came out, Rune is still an awesome game. It's addicting and fun in both single and multiplay. In my opionion its better than DS9 by far. Endwaith

Not sure if this'll be out for Christmass - but check it out!!! http://www2.discreet.com/games/ Will be released SOON!!! They have some awesome looking games for it already. 3DMax is THE content creation platform (movies, games, everything). gMax is going to be an end-user program running all games developed in 3DMax. Most good game already are. gMax is going take it a step further. It'll allow 3D games you can "edit" - with the best game content available. Developer's will spend time making games intertaining instead off fooling with $Gate's bull. Definitely something to watch!

Yeah, this is mainly for the FPS freaks, but you can't deny the power of the two major releases last Christmas:Unreal Tournament Quake III Those were, and still are, two huge hitters; they filled a void that Diablo 2 was supposed to take (and one that Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun never deserved). Hell, those two games are used as video card benchmarks to this day. Say what you will about Alice, and it's probably pretty cool. Just remember that it won't match up to the big Christmas that Q3 and UT provided in 1999. PS2 probably will have something to do with the sales too (even with the sore lack of consoles).

q3 sucks, just mindless deathmatching which i got my share of in q1 and q2. Unreal tourny i liked tho.whats the deal with alice? ive seen screenshots but the game itself doesnt interest me at all, the disney (was it disney?) movie freaked me out enough.

Alice is eye and mind candy to the nth degree. And for your information, the game is based on the original story, not the sissified version from Disney. The original story was dark and spooky and cool, much like the game.

For stategy and sport, new games rule. But for adventure / simulator - maybe you choice ISN'T a "new" game. Not all cool games are new. Maybe just don't buy a new game. Order a "must have" older game that people used to rave about. You ask me 3D and MS screwed up allot of new games - and their JUST fixing it. 2D doesn't bite...

Alice certainly looks pretty but if the demo is anyting to go by it's all eye candy and pretty shallow gameplay. We'll see, demos aren't always a good indication of the final game (remember the Jedi Knight demo?). And hey, what about Giants? :)
