Your father was a Wraith pilot... One of the best human pilots ever. That was before the Black Leagues' Protos project -a project that spawned the creation of the worlds first artificial pilot. 14 Degrees East, a division of Interplay Entertainment Corp. announced that their strategy game, Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, has shipped to retail. Based in the award-winning Fallout universe, Fallout Tactics blends tactical combat with a post nuclear environment resulting in an innovative gaming experience. Fallout Tactics is now available at retail for Windows(R) 95/98/00/ME-based computers.

Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel expands the Fallout franchise into exciting new directions. It is the first game to bring multiplayer gaming to the Fallout series. It adds true vehicular combat (tanks, APCs and even Dune Buggies). In addition, the Fallout tactical combat system has been refined. The consequences of the players' actions have an impact on the storyline and mission development. Players have complete control over their party members, unlike previous Fallout games. Mutants, robots, two-headed cows, gangers and ghouls are all targets for pistols, flame-throwers, rocket launchers and energy weapons. Players have the choice of a new continuous turn-based mode for faster action or the traditional turn-based mode for more tactical gameplay.

Today in Beatdown #45: I'm 1/8th Irish. Which is actually more than I am anything else in particular (except Polish, but we don't talk that up so much in my family). So, I'm Irish. But guess what? Everyone is Irish on Saint Patrick's Day! Anyway, lots of games were released this past fortnight and a horde more went gold. But that's not all! We've also got nudity in our soccer and Microsoft's reportedly underwhelming Gamestock 2001. Oh, we have a winner for that contest too!

Escape from Monkey Island, the fourth chapter of this comical game series, will be released for PlayStation 2 by LucasArts Entertainment in spring 2001. The critically acclaimed graphic adventure, which debuted on PC last fall, brings to PlayStation 2 all the salty humor, engaging game play, and fresh puns (not to mention a ship-load of monkeys!) for which the legendary series is famous. Escape from Monkey Island continues in the tradition of its award-winning predecessors and was developed by the team that created LucasArts' irreverent classic Sam and Max Hit the Road(TM). Escape from Monkey Island for PC has been nominated by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences in three categories for the 2001 Interactive Achievement Awards, including PC Adventure Game of the Year. Escape from Monkey Island for PS2 features an original cinematic story full of drama, intrigue, and of course, highly amusing humor. The game is highlighted by hundreds of challenging puzzles amidst dozens of rich and brilliantly rendered backgrounds.
