Strategy First and Time Gate Studios have announced that Kohan Immortal Sovereigns has shipped. This real-time fantasy strategy game is sure to appeal to a large market of gamers because of its unique blending of different game play styles. While adhering to some of the basics of traditional RTS style games, Kohan's distinctive economy model eliminates the need for micro management of resources, leaving the player with more time for strategic combat. Kohan will also appeal to the tactical wargamer with its company based combat system and use of military concepts such as formations, visual range, supply range and even morale. Not only will the more strategic and tactical players enjoy the game, but RPG gamers will also feel at home with the game's gripping storyline and role-playing elements, such as leaders and units gaining experience, leaders being carried over from one quest to another, and of course, the lush and visually stunning fantasy land of Khaldun, where dragons, spells and swords are common place. Immersed into a fantasy setting, players take on the role of an immortal being known as the Kohan. The Kohan were once the ruling power of the world, but were wiped out in a series of massive cataclysms. They did not die an eternal death though, and have since been reborn and reawakened in a new world, unlike the one they once knew. They must come to grips with their past glory, their present hardship, and their future destiny. Shrapnel Games announced that the tank simulation, Air Command 3, has been sent to duplication and will be shipping by April 1st. With the assistance of an actual Air Traffic Controller, Developer Joe Jaworski has balanced game play and realism to give the gamer a feel of what it is like to direct air traffic at a major international airport. Multiple difficulty levels, pilot digitized voices, and an airport editor provide for many hours of nail biting game play. Added to the final release are pilot miscommunications and errors.

Electronic Arts has announced the shipment of Triple Play Baseball 2002 for the Sony PlayStation 2. The game features all 30 major league ballparks, including the new Miller Park in Milwaukee and PNC Park in Pittsburgh. The game offers four primary modes of play: single game, season, playoffs, and big league challenge. Triple Play Baseball 2002 for the PS2 carries a suggested retail price of $49.95. Versions of the game are also available for the PlayStation and the PC platform.

Konami of Americahas announced their strategy game, Ring of Red for the PlayStation 2 ships to retail outlets nationwide today at an SRP of $49.99. Ring of Red fuses together tactical strategy and fast-paced battle action, in a unique twist on mechanized warfare in a fictionalized post-war Japan. Players control colossal mechanized robots and suppor ting infantry units. The combat takes place in the 1960's but with a twist integral to the battle are giant human-piloted, heavy metal machines armed with machine guns, rocket launchers and field artillery pieces. Players maneuver units on tactical map-screens and then command their troops on the battlefield as it unfolds in real-time. As the first PS2 strategy title this year, Ring of Red features stunningly animated battles complete with day and night cycles, thousands of combinations of attack squads, and an intriguing, well-crafted story.

Activision Inc. has recently announced Star Trek: Armada II for the PC. The game is being developed for Activision by Mad Doc Software, a new studio comprised of former employees from Looking Glass Studios and members of the Star Trek Armada production team from Activision. Set in The Next Generation universe, Star Trek Armada II's story unfolds through three separate single-player campaigns played as the Federation, Klingons and Borg. Through 27 action packed-missions, players battle against the Cardassians, Romulans, Borg and Species 8472, each with it's own distinct play style, weapons, ships and base facilities.
Star Trek Armada II adds a number of new strategic options and enhancements to Armada's winning gameplay mix. Maps in Star Trek Armada II now have 3-D depth, and have been increased in overall size. To make optimum use of the added dimension, the game offers players a new Tactical View in which the battle unfolds in true 3D. Ships can also be placed into 3D formations for different firepower configurations, and to further immerse the player in the action. Damage modeling has also been revised for Star Trek Armada II. In true Star Trek fashion, player's weapons can now damage different locations and sub-systems on targeted ships. Star Trek Armada II features an extensive range of multiplayer options, including up-to-eight-player competitions over LAN and the Internet where gamers can play as the Federation, Klingons, Borg, Cardassians, Romulans or Species 8472. Several additional multiplayer game types will also be available including variations of Capture-the-Flag, King of The Hill, and Co-Op style gameplay.
