Despite a few strong efforts, PC gamepads have yet to quite equal the quality of some of their console counterparts. Either they're not comfortable enough, don't have responsive buttons or indeed enough buttons. At this point I'm sure you're just waiting for me to say "Guess what, the Eliminator AfterShock is finally the perfect gamepad you've been waiting for." Well, maybe...
During play, the pad itself performs particularly well indeed and takes next to no getting used to at all. The large rounded grips feel comfortable even after hours of frenzied play and most of the buttons and controls are easy to reach. The only exceptions are the top two trigger buttons – the front of the joypad slopes forward slightly so that it can be a touch uncomfortable to reach the top two buttons unless you shift your hands back, in which case some will find the analogue sticks a little hard to reach. In games that required use of all buttons it never bothered me too much as long as the top two trigger buttons weren't used much.

Buka Entertainment has announced that one of its projects "Project Overdrive" has been put on hold.
"It was not easy to us to make this decision, as a great effort had been put forth to the development of the game. The originality of the design had attracted attention of many gamers both inside and outside Russia. Quite a few people had expected the game to be released at the beginning of 2001, hoping it to become a hit. But, when the game went alpha, it became clear to us, that the final version would not meet our and our users' expectations. And as we would not like to disappoint our users, we made the decision to put the project on hold. However we look ahead optimistically. And now we are going to fully concentrate our efforts upon the other projects that we have on development - namely the tactical RPG Paradise Cracked, the RTS\RPG Charm of War, and the RPG Spells of Gold."

Electronic Art's online episodic adventure/thriller Majestic puts you in the middle of a vast government conspiracy and employs Internet communication tools to bring the story to life. While it is being called a game, it is more like an adventure, being billed as the X-Files (the game and the movie) meets the Internet. Check out the Majestic preview here at SharkyGames.
Without flashy rendered graphics, big guns or zombies to hunt down, Majestic digs into a much more personal and psychological level of gameplay. EA is using their partnership with AOL and a few other strategic companies to use gadgets and services that will contact you with clues on the game. The methods that EA was willing to discuss are AOL Instant Messenger, e-mail, faxes and calls on your cell phone or landline. Beyond all of the media, much of the game consists of surfing through Web sites for information, downloading video of interaction between the game's characters and retrieving voice mail messages also left by the characters of the game. This type of “interface” means that game crosses more into your real world life than other games, allowing fiction and reality to blur.
