Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Woodstock and the rest of the cast of characters will continue the 50th anniversary of PEANUTS with an interactive celebration by Infogrames Inc. United Media has awarded the company the rights to bring the most popular comic strip in history to all gaming platforms. The exclusive deal is guaranteed through 2006. The terms of the agreement include the rights for Infogrames to develop PEANUTS video games for Sony PlayStation and PlayStation2, Sega Dreamcast, Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance, PC and Macintosh. Snoopy and the entire PEANUTS gang will serve up their first video game with Snoopy Tennis for Game Boy Color, available March 2001.

Leading Scandinavian computer game developer UDS has launched its new portal for interactive entertainment, www.GlobalFun.com. The site contains e.g. the world's first computer game that makes its possible for players on both the Internet and WAP to play against each other. The site is run by UDS' newly formed and fully-owned subsidiary for development and marketing of interactive entertainment, GlobalFun. The new web site is an evaluation version of GlobalFun's new portal for interactive entertainment, which will be officially launched world-wide at the end of this quarter. www.Globalfun.com is a virtual gaming community in which players all over the world can meet and play games, compete with each other or simply take a break from work. Even though the site is completely new, it already attracts approx. 16,000 visits per day from all over the world without any marketing activities whatsoever from UDS' or GlobalFun's side.

Microsoft today announced that the MechCommander 2 Cinematic Sweepstakes is now underway on the game's official Web site. The winner will receive a trip for two to Los Angeles later this month, and a role as an extra in the opening cinematic of MechCommander 2. To be eligible to win, contestants must fill out the entry form located on the official MechCommander 2 site. The sweepstakes is open from now until February 7, 2001, 1159 PM PST, and the winner will be announced on February 9, 2001. As always, be sure to read the official rules before entering.
